Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in foreign languages
There is some debate on how to cite your affiliation if you are a member of the LMU München. According to the office for public relations there exist more than 1000 (!) variations of how people translated their affiliation. To bring this discussion to an end, I investigated by asking the Stabsstelle Strategie und Entwicklung that is also the office for public relations. Here is their answer:

Der Eigenname der Universität lautet im Deutschen und im Englischen “Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München“. Er darf nicht übersetzt werden (wie etwa in “Ludwig Maximilian University Munich“ o.ä.). Mögliche Varianten sind: “Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich“, “LMU Munich“ (in jedem Fall ohne Artikel!)
English version
Do not translate the name of the university. It is Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, in any language. If this hurts you, you could also use “Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich“ or “LMU Munich“ (but never use an article).
